NAMI Educational Programs

Across the country, thousands of trained NAMI volunteers bring peer-led programs to a wide variety of community settings, from churches to schools to NAMI Affiliates. With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these programs and support groups provide outstanding free education, skills training and support. Most are available in Spanish and Online. Please note that NAMI programs are not open to student or professional observation.

are offered FREE of charge for all participants.

Classes:

NAMI Basics - a class for parents, guardians and other family caregivers who provide care for youth (age 22 or younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

NAMI Family-To-Family - a class for families, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental health conditions, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. This program was designated as an evidence-based program by SAMHSA. Click here to be added on our wait list for our Spring 2025 class.

NAMI Peer-To-Peer - a class for adults with mental health conditions. The course is designed to encourage growth, healing and recovery among participants.

NAMI Homefront - a class for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. The course is designed specifically to help these families understand those challenges and improve their ability to support their service member or veteran. Coming soon. Click here to pre-register.

Presentations:

NAMI Ending The Silence – a presentation designed for middle and high school students, school staff, and parents or guardians of middle or high school aged youth. Audiences learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions, how to recognize the early warning signs and the importance of acknowledging those early warning signs.

NAMI In Our Own Voice – a presentation for the general public to promote awareness of mental health conditions and recovery.

NAMI FaithNet (Bridges of Hope) – a presentation to educate faith communities about mental illness so that they can create stronger safety nets and welcoming communities of faith for people affected by mental illness. NAMI FaithNet is an information exchange network of NAMI members, friends, clergy and congregations of all faith traditions who wish to create more welcoming and supportive faith communities for persons and families touched by serious mental illness. It also encourages the role of faith in recovery for those for whom faith is a key component of their experience.

NAMI Sharing Hope – a 3-part community conversation series designed for, by, and about black and brown communities to designed to promote mental health awareness, explore signs and symptoms of mental health conditions and highlight how and where to find help.
